Hello, I'm Kirsty
I've been working as a Professional Singer since 2007, working full time in music in 2011 and working full time as a Singer since February 2020 (Yes, that was interesting timing!)
As a Singer my main loves are Musical Theatre, Jazz and Opera- but I sing a range of styles.
I love people - if you want a singer who will go for coffee with you to discuss your event fully, then I'm your girl!
For me, singing is such a joy, I love entertaining but also supporting folk and bringing some peace is often part of my job, music is so powerful! This may be at a life event such as a Wedding Ceremony or Funeral or at one of my Concerts. I believe taking a moment out of your day to reflect, let music wash over you and relax can really change the kind of day you are having! I like to help with this!
I enjoy bringing my Concerts to communities and doing classy events!
My Story
Kirsty Duncan, daughter of John and Pat, grew up in Twynholm, Dumfries & Galloway. Her childhood memories include singing with her Mum and Dad during car journeys, attending her first Opera (Mozart's The Magic Flute!) age 6 and being introduced to the film musical 'Singin' in the Rain' by Granny.
She always had a great love of music and enjoyed singing solo, in choirs and performing in the School Pantomime. She was part of Scottish Youth Theatre's Summer Festival (a 5 week residential Acting Course) in 2003 just after completing her final year at school.
In September 2003, Kirsty moved to York to study a BA (Hons) Performance: Music degree at York St John University. During the next three years she learned a great deal about music. This degree helped her become the singer she is today.
Studying such a varied mix of music: The Beatles, Stravinsky, Bowie, Blur, John Adams and Steve Reich just to name a few has given her a wider musical knowledge and has meant she enjoys performing a variety of music.
Kirsty has now completed not only her Music degree but an HNC Acting and Performance (2007) and also a Postgraduate Diploma in Career Guidance and Development (2008), which means that she is a qualified Career Advisor too, which has been incredibly helpful in her work in a local Foodbank and other community projects. She was a Career Advisor for a while but became Self Employed in 2011 to pursue singing.
